What is the difference between T.E.D’s and graduated compression wear?
Anti-embolism stockings are designed specifically for bed-bound patients to help prevent blood from pooling in the leg veins. Graduated compression is medically designed for patients who are mobile. They work with a graduated effect and measured in millimeters of mercury.
Will my insurance cover my garments?
Most private insurance companies do cover garments, however it will depend on your individual plan. If your plan does cover garments, your physician will need to write a RX order. With an RX order, you can receive reimbursement. We have an insurance specialist on staff who will handle all communications with your insurance provider to ensure that you receive your insurance benefits. Medicare and Medicaid do not cover these garments.
Why do I need to wear a sleeve and glove on a flight?
The cabin pressure during flight in a plane is less than the atmospheric pressure while on the ground. The decreased pressure in the cabin can cause increased swelling of the limbs.
How long does a garment last?
Compression hose last a maximum of 6 months with proper care. Night time garments can last from 2 to 4 years depending on how you maintain them, as well as how your fluid levels are fluxuating in your affected limb. The outer jacket of your night time garment must be replaced every year.
